I guess you know how today is at the Pond.

We slept in a little, took a little (very little) walk between rain showers, dug out the heavier coats.  Not our favorite day at the campground.

It was so windy last night the old man guarding our fifth wheel blew over!

About noon we saw a little clearing and having to return the rental car we took off for Lake City.  We were shocked that there was a line at Enterprise, after waiting our turn we got rid of the little white rental car.  We went to Wal-Mart for drinking water – they have a machine that you can get pure water to refill your containers for only 27 cents a gallon.  We got 6 1/2 gallons. (I dropped one and lost 1/2 gallon in the parking lot – don’t laugh that was 13.5 cents!)

Off we went to Camping World to get two more roof vent covers, these allow us to leave the roof vents open during the light rain.  We have one vent, 3 vents with fans, and one Fantastic Fan vent.  We are putting covers over four of these.  No pictures of any of this as it is  raining   of course.  Camping World was out of them, but I spied a lock for our fifth wheel hitch on sale half price at $10.50.  I wanted one of these but couldn’t part with the 20 bucks and there is was in a beat up box.  Paid our money and the nice gal at Camping World gave us a Camping World Lucky Dollar Days lottery ticket.  Hey we won 10 bucks off our next purchase. 🙂  Good Deal.

As it was cold and raining, I started to replace more of the inside old lights with LED lights. I turned on an old light just to see how it was in the fixture, it wasn’t on but for 1 minute and I got a second degree burn when I touched the bulb.  That large blister on my right index finger will bother me for weeks.

This is the G4 replacement bulb for the halogen lights we have.

They are pure white, use 1.8 watts of electricity and put out a little more light than the old bulbs.

The new LED’s look a little weird, but they work.  As you can see per each light we went from 20 watts to 1.8 watts of electricity being used.  The LED’s last over 20,000 hours which is a lot longer than the halogen bulb.  Seeing the halogen bulbs are expensive this is a no brainer.  We have six of these halogen fixtures so when both rows of the lights are on we were burning 1200 watts of energy.  We now are burning 108 watts of energy!  You can see the saving especially when we are burning our own fossil fuel to make our own electricity.

I left one of the outside new LED lights on all night, since I already burned my finger what the heck lets see how hot it is.  You can touch it with no problem.

We realize that we are spending a months worth of groceries on new light bulbs, but expect to realize the savings within the year!
