Slow Drive to Moore Haven FL

Today is a move day.  Our plans were to leave Lake City, FL at 9:30, as I said our plans.  We arrived at the RV dump station at 9:15—so far so good.  All larger RVs either fifth wheels or motor homes have water tank built into their frames.  We have a 60 gallon water fresh tank—yup we can make that go for 8 days, and we do shower; a 50 gallon black tank, think toilet; and two 45 gallon grey tanks, one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom vanity and shower.  Not being an engineer I wouldn’t design a RV with 60 gallons of fresh water and 140 gallons of waste water.  Besides that we also carry 60 pounds of propane and 28 gallons of gasoline (with a pump like a gas station) on the fifth wheel.

We got all three waste tanks dumped and were on the road to pickup a small package at the Post Office in Lake City.  Now it is a big Post Office—but now big enough for us to park in the parking lot, so I drop Miss Peggy off and start circling a four block area.  Amazon (usually a very fast shipper) send this package out to us General Delivery at the Post Office.  In in is a six-dollar part to make the bedroom TV work on the DirecTV.  We still don’t know why, but Amazon send the package to this address:

Landyachty

General Delivery

Lake City, FL

Hey this would have worked great except they sent it via UPS.  I circled the Post Office so many times  the cops wanted to pull me over thinking I was an Indian party ready to attack.  We finally got moving at 10:15—with no package of course.

…and the rain started a day early.  Best laid plans.  We got off at the intersection of I-75 and FL 44 for fuel at the Pilot.  Behold there was an outside BBQ next to the Pilot—just like God put it there.  They had a special of smoked beef rib tips with French fries and a coke for $11.  Who could say no, Miss Peggy ordered fried fish and fries for $8.  Hey beats the PB & J we were going to have but fish at a BBQ joint??

Now the fun begins as all the roads for the next 172 miles were either under construction or had a school bus unloading every 5 minutes, give us a break.  We finally arrived at Lakeport RV Park about 2 hours after we had scheduled.  We quickly parked and setup before the last rays of sun went away.  We will unload and reposition in the morning.

Miss Peggy made a great supper of baked pork chops, wild rice, and salad.  Now remember I just went off a four-month vegetarian diet and with BBQ lunch, and pork chop supper I may feel that later.  We settled in at 11 PM it was still 64 outside with the rain starting in again.  Tomorrow is a rain day until 2 PM, so it will be inside projects.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.   Romans 15:13
