We are at a new to us spot just outside of Lake City Florida.  This is one of the nicest National Forest Sites we have been at.  Due to the fact we are doing a lot of remodeling to the RV we opted for a site with water, electricity, and great view of the lake.  $12 a night is a little beyond the budget, but we needed the electricity.  We will add a few of the projects we are doing to the RV the next few days.

First Work Project

 Out first major project is the remodel of the bedroom. Four minor projects are involved.

1.  Replace the king size bed with a queen size air bed. Raise the height of the bed 9 inches for more ease in and out, and double the storage under the bed. Provide AC power for the airbed, and place an automatic light in the storage area.
2.  Build two small night stands (solid Oak) next to the bed with 12 volt outlets above them for charging phones and notebooks.
3.  Install a swivel mount flat panel TV.
4.  Build a new tall cabinet (solid Oak) next to the vanity with storage for dirty clothes and two drawers for bathroom use. Install 12 volt outlets above cabinet, a power meter, and a 12 volt fan.

After removal of the platform top this is the first layer of the bed frame, note the wiring in the upper right corner for the new light under the bed.   It will come up automatically when the bed is lifted.

The upper top of the bed frame had to be glued up.  From the six glue up schedules to the finish of the outer oak plywood – we were out of the bed four days.

Bed is now 11″ higher and storage is 9″ deeper

Now there is 6″ on both sides of the bed for the yet to be built night stands. Finished bed, nine inches taller than the old frame, light comes on when opened and there is a space on either side for the dual night stands.  (BTW the headboard had to be removed from the wall and the two reading lights raised higher.)

This doubles the amount of storage under the bed. Note automatic light in upper right storage area.
